Robert Lau
Robert Lau holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College, a Master of Arts in Theory from the Eastman School of Music, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Musicology from The Catholic University of America. He has done additional graduate work at Teachers' College of Columbia University, Westminster Choir College, and with the late Robert Shaw at the Carnegie Hall Workshops in New York City.
Dr. Lau is Music Associate at St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral in Harrisburg where he assists in leading choral evensongs and occasionally plays Sunday services. He is a former member of the faculty of the Department of Music at Lebanon Valley College where he taught for twenty‑two years, chairing the department for eleven years. He also served as an Adjunct Professor of Music at Penn State Harrisburg for twenty years.
Robert Lau has more than 400 choral and keyboard works published by the leading music publishing companies in the United States. He has been commissioned to write choral and keyboard works for a variety of churches, individuals, and institutions. He has been awarded fifteen Special Awards from ASCAP for his published choral and keyboard works.
Dr. Lau presents workshops and clinics for churches and organizations throughout the United States. He is a member of the Harrisburg Chapter of the American Guild of Organists; the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP); and the American Choral Directors Association. He is the former Music Director of the Harrisburg Choral Society and Former Artistic Director of Jubilate! Choral Ensemble of Gettysburg.
